Isaiah 51: Prayer Guide.
October 11, 2020 in Today's Prayer by TGV
A Prayer Guide corresponding with the today’s Bible Reading Plan: Isaiah 51/ Theme: Jesus, our Advocate/ 23-BSG-51B, (Isaiah 51:22)/ Hymn: Jesus, the loving Shepherd, [Author: W. A. Ogden]
Opening Remarks: “Thus says your Lord, The Lord and your God, Who pleads the cause of His people: “See, I have taken out of your hand the cup of trembling, The dregs of the cup of My fury; You shall no longer drink it.” (Isaiah 51:22, NKJV)
What grips me from this text is that God will plead for His people when none else will plead. Later in the Book, we read this: “I looked, but there was no one to help; I was appalled, but there was no one to uphold; so my own arm brought me salvation, and my wrath upheld me.” (Isaiah 63:5, ESV) “In this we find a foreshadowing of the idea of Christ as our Advocate with God, which, most deeply, most spiritually apprehended, is God pleading with God—God an Advocate with himself.” (The Pulpit Commentary; 2: 277).
Beloved, as we come to the today’s Prayer Session, we are invited to— have faith to Jesus Christ, our Advocate. Jesus Christ is God, “In him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily! John reminds us that “the Word was God.” (Jn 1:1); and thus it is fitting to say here [Isa. 51:22] that — God is pleading with God! “For there [is only] one God, and [only] one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,” (1 Timothy 2:5, AMP). Would you trust Him and bring your request(s) to Him today?
Values To Build On: Faith, Prayer, Confession/ Repentance.
Sins To Avoid/ Confess: Running away from God; Failure to attentively listening to God (Isa. 51:1, 4, 7); Failure to “awake, awake” (Isa. 51:9, 17; 52:1); Failure to ‘break forth, shout joyfully together” (Isa. 52:9); Failure to “Depart, Depart” from Babylon (Isa. 52:11). Compare the 4th Angel’s Message: “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues.” (Revelation 18:4, NKJV)
Something To Thank God For:
- God, Creator of Heaven and Earth
- God, Creator of Mankind
- God, the Comforter (2 Cor 1:3)
- God, the Faithful one.
- God’s Love: He forget us not even when we backslide.
- God’s unequalled Power: He protect us from our enemies.
- God, Preserver of Life, Law, Justice & Righteousness.
- God’s Providence: He provides for our daily needs.
- God’s Righteousness: His righteousness is imparted to us; we are clothed with Christ’s righteousness
- God’s conflict with the Dragon (Satan): Because Christ has won the battle, we can crush Satan under our feet (Rom 16:20).
People To Pray For: [1] All believer to have Abrahamic faith (Isa 51:2); [2] All those who suffer from terminal illness (Covid-19); or from afflictions and adversities; [3] Backsliders — Backsliding of spiritual Israel; [4] for all mankind to believe and trust the LORD Jesus Christ: the only known link between Heaven and Earth; that all may repent of their sins and come to the Advocate [Isa. 51:22] before probation closes!
Issues To Pray For: Consolation in afflictions and adversities; Responsiveness to divine calling; Righteousness of believers; Faith: waiting on God.
Today’s Promise: “For the Lord will comfort Zion, He will comfort all her waste places; He will make her wilderness like Eden, And her desert like the garden of the Lord; Joy and gladness will be found in it, Thanksgiving and the voice of melody.” (Isaiah 51:3, NKJV)
Action Step: Take a moment to Examine Yourself: Do you see any Specific Sins listed above in your life? If Yes; Confess and Repent right away. Remember – “Sins that have not been repented of and forsaken will not be pardoned, and blotted out of the books of record, but will stand to witness against the sinner in the day of God.” (The Faith I Live By, p. 211). Take a moment to pray for issues listed above; Pray for someone who is struggling with these sins. If you have a Prayer Request(s), kindly write it below and someone will pray for it. God Bless You!

Worship Through Singing
JESUS, THE LOVING SHEPHERD!
Jesus, the loving Shepherd,
Calleth thee now to come
Into the fold of safety,
Where there is rest and room;
Come in the strength of manhood,
Come in the morn of youth,
Enter the fold of safety,
Enter the way of truth.
Refrain:
Lovingly, tenderly calling is He,
“Wanderer, wanderer, come unto Me;”
Patiently waiting, there standing I see
Jesus, my Shepherd divine.
Jesus, the loving Shepherd,
Gave his dear life for thee;
Tenderly now He’s calling,
“Wanderer, come to me:”
Haste! for without is danger,
“Come,” cries the Shepherd blest;
Enter the fold of safety,
Enter the place of rest.
Lingering is but folly,
Wolves are abroad today,
Seeking the sheep who’re straying,
Seeking the lambs to slay;
Jesus, the loving Shepherd,
Calleth thee now to come;
Enter the fold of safety,
Where there is rest and room.
